北京宇通天地科技发展有限公司是北京市高新技术企业，其前身是首都师范大学新材料研究所。
公司下设的北京宇通新材料研究所主要以研究复合杂化材料为方向。长期以来多次承担北京市教委、科委科技攻关项目及国家自然科学基金项目。先后研究、开发出了具有自主知识产权的一系列与市场接轨、企业又迫切需要的技术和九大类50多个新产品，产品的性能、指标均达到或超过国内、外同类产品水平，部分产品已通过部级鉴定，有些产品已达到国际先进水平，多次荣获国际发明金牌奖并成功地应用在各有关领域，取得了较大的经济效益及社会效益。
研究所研发能力和技术水平主要表现在：
1、纳米改性聚氨酯双组份特种防腐涂料；
2、纳米改性聚氨酯防腐地坪(自流平)涂料。
3、粘接材料合成技术；
4、系列墙体涂料的制造技术。
5、系列场地场馆材料制造技术；
6、系列纳米材料制备及纳米界面修饰技术、均匀分散技术和纳米材料的组合技术方面已居国内领先、达到国际先进水平；
7、功能性乳液的合成技术；
8、纳米改性聚氨酯的合成技术以及由上述项目引伸出来的相关的一些具有纳米功能的涂料制备技术；
公司长期以来坚持产、学、研相结合，坚持科研成果转化为生产力，目前公司已发展成为以技术为根本，科、工、贸一体的高新技术企业。
